I’ve been reading through the book of John in my times with God and today I came to John 18:37.  With Christmas now just around the corner this passage landed with some powerful meaning.  Check this out…

The context is that Jesus is at the point where he is “on trial”…the cross is on the horizen.  He’s being questioned about who he is.  Jesus responds to Pilate with a bottom line statement that summarized his purpose…a statement that gripped Pilate.  When questioned further Jesus says “You are right in saying I am a king.  . In fact, for this reason I was born, for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

I’m reminded this isn’t just a celebration about a baby…this is all about a King.  A King whose life would offer eternal hope.  That’s worth celebrating!
